Psalm 139:5(NIV)
You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.

Reflect
Growing up I always envisioned God as following me every step of my life. Unfortunately, because I was a bit of a rascal, I thought God was watching me with the intent of punishing me when I stepped to far out of line. I often saw the hammer of God resting right above my head! Yikes!

The reality is that God is watching over every breath and every step we take. And there is nowhere we can go where God is not present. Some people may wonder if that is good news or bad news.

Although we may not want God to be aware of all our actions or thoughts, He does know it all. Despite this truth, it is still good news because He knows us completely and He still loves us and forgives us. His love for us compels us to be with us in every situation, protecting and guiding us.

All of us who know and love God are safe in His arms. No matter what we do or where we go, no matter what happens to us – hardship, trouble, persecution, disaster, or even a pandemic – we can never be separated from God’s comforting presence and love in Christ our Saviour (Rom. 8:35-39).

Pray
Father it is comforting to know how completely you love us. Please forgive me when I sin against you. Thank you, Father, for watching over us and holding us safely in your arms. Amen.

Safe in the Father
