Many people say Jesus is a good man, teacher, and prophet. Sure, He is all of those – but much more. He came to redeem you so you can have an amazing relationship with God. When Adam committed high treason against God by eating the fruit from the forbidden tree (Genesis 3), he plunged the whole human race into sin. And because of that very act, human race was put under a curse. The curse of sin is what separates us from God, so without payment for sin, man is cursed to eternal separation from God. “The wages of sin is death..” (Romans 6:23), the Bible says.

God is such a good God and He loves man so much that He does not wish to punish man for sin, but God is also a just God that He can not let sin go unpunished. So He sent Jesus to be propitiation (payment) for our sins, “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins” (1 John 4:10).

Jesus, who is both Man and God, was the perfect sacrifice for our sins. The Bible says, “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21). When Jesus hung on the cross, His body broken and His blood shed, there was a divine exchange – “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”)” (Galatians 3:13).  He took our place so that we can take His. He was forsaken by God, so that we can be accepted by the Father. We can now live a life of love, peace, joy, hope, acceptance, favour, health, and every good thing you can think of!

When you accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour, God sees you forgiven. You are accepted in the beloved (Jesus is God’s beloved) and redeemed from the curse. This is God’s grace, found in Jesus. This is the inheritance of those belonging to God, there is nothing you can do to merit God’s grace. If you want to accept what Jesus did for you today, you can say this prayer. The Bible says, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).

“Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me and dying for me on the cross. Your precious blood washes me clean of every sin. You are my Lord and my Saviour, now and forever. I believe that You rose from the dead and that You are alive today. Because of Your finished work, I am now a beloved child of God and heaven is my home. Thank You for giving me eternal life and filling my heart with Your peace and joy. Amen.”
